Lyric writing 101: part 2

This is part two of my lyric writing guide. Here you learn how words to accompany by writing alternative texts.

It is not important, with cover songs to confuse alternative lyrics. There are many ways a cover song, you can change the texts easy like it in the Pink Floyd cover of tears for fear's "Shout" to modernise. You can also easily change the melody as seen in Madonna's version of Don MacLean's "American Pie" or Sheryl Crow's cover of guns n roses "Sweet Child o' Mine" [also changed to the voice of male to female change].Note, that the song essentially the same both lyrically also melodic secure.additional examples cover songs you under the reference on "triple M's musical challenge" in part 1 of this guide.

What are you?

Lyrics by alternatives use both melodic and lyric layout of existing Songs.Die "new" text will be sung on the same melody, and in the same way as the original song. This process is not only used by novices, there are a number of established artists to use this practice.

Why do you write alternative text?

Many newcomers use this practice as a tool to connect learning words with music.Well as established artists there are several reasons why - some possible causes are as follows.

* One of the most common forms of alternative lyrics are parodies. out all review of weird Al Yankovic's work. Some of its titles are "Amish paradise" ("gangsta's paradise" by Coolio);'It's all about the Pentium"("It's all about the Benjamins"by Sean Combs, notorious b.i.g., Sean Jacobs, et al);'Constipation ' ("complicated" by Avril Lavinge).

* Alternative lyrics can be used be a live performance a little flair, or break the monotony of the "same" song play every night while on tour. This can be seen in the guns n roses track "Don don't cry" [both versions can be found on the albums 'Use your illusion'].

* Maybe too much was in the original design of the song written and customized the writer the excess to make a 'new' track. Or possibly the writer was not in a position to decide on an angle on the song and continue to change the song, until you found something, were mit.Dies happy can be seen in the Staind song "Outside", can one of the original versions of the song by a simple search on the ' net.

Getting started

It's probably best if you first try alternative lyrics, to select a song you know how to write. To choose song if you try to choose a melody you know well.To begin with, examine the lyrics make arrangements note patterns such as such as rhyme, I mean syllable Count. Was? Look for the line end rhyme together and whether it is a pattern to it. The number of syllables in each row and see if it intentional design to you (Note: not all have this, but it is important to note what it is).

*-* Ensure that the song knows you well, hear it 100 times, if need be. You must be able to not only call the tune of mind, but also as the texts placed and be sung.

What will you do to write? You have a clear idea of what you are to write about. If you're going to write a parody what want theme you use?Jot down any ideas and something like the Word Association exercises in part 1 of this series might use thoughts cover in the song. If you decide to do a serious song jot down some ideas/words, to care etc coming - this can help you when it comes to writing the texts.

Now I can give you exactly, as you go say about the actual writing process.Everyone has his own style and methods, to be honest, I'm not exactly sure as I write, it is just me.However, I can give you some pointers in mind to keep when it comes to alternative write texts.

Hints and tips

# I mentioned above, the number of the syllable note will keep you nehmen.Indem this number in mind you with the original song to keep.Keep a copy of the text in nearby for easy reference when it makes it easier for you.I've noticed a few examples in my travels have disregarded disastrous for the song ends. The reason why this is happening because the 'beat' [or syllable count] text hat.Zum take example from the river of song disturbed, when the original lyrics: 7 / 8/7 / 7 and your alternative texts go 5/6/5/7;You can tell right away that there should be some problems in the flow of the 'new' song. This may take a little more time and planning in the writing of texts, but if you are using the format of the original song-stick are your lyrics thanks for it.

Is an exception to every rule, and it is one of them. You can sometimes get, where a syllable from both sides of the actual Anzahl.Obwohl you must be careful, when the do this because it did not work a chance. This works for all songs so that you be careful when functioning.this apply technology can help a little more freedom to work with you to recommend however, I leave this technique until you write with the lyric are more familiar.

# If a poetry has a particular rhyme scheme, try and different styles which used save some freestyle rhyme, keep as is poetry with ihm.Genau it can get away with free verse for your texts.

# Try to stay lyrics away from the lines or phrases, in the original song, especially, if it affects something like converting from rock / / in the drastic do say Christian songtexte. In itself could be a very effective song genre mix is very popular these days but only if you there right gemacht.Denken what you write about, I recently saw a piece that attempts based konvertieren.Dies song had a piece about street racing in a Christian very effective because, if you were not same phrases in the original song that use in conflict with what the author was trying to say.

#, If you want an invitation from the original song use, if you about a similar topic schreiben.Wie the first examples types alternative texts given both the guns n roses and Staind songs mentioned the choir remain the same and binds the two sets of lyrics / / zusammen.Sie can a line or two if you want to ' bind' your piece to the original song and use addition to your "new" song.

* * * * * * * * * *

By alternate lyrics are able to teach themselves how words with music you feel comfortable begleiten.sobald with the accompanying words and music in this way, take one to go on a little harder technique found in the next part 3 of this series, sampling and Ghost songs.
